Don's Ranch
September 27-28, 2002
One of the brightest days in Texas was the day, when we went to the ranch
of our friend Don.
We had lots of fun there:
Riding lawnmower;
Eating steak, cooked on real fire;
Dasha's first driving lesson;
Shooting pistols and rifles.
We also both tried on cowboy hat, coat and other cowboy closes. It was
nice and funny experience of suburban life.
During our way to Don's ranch we had very unusual experience: riding
the dark painted car in 90F (32C) without air conditioning(!). Now we
know that 4x70 air conditioning (four windows down, 70 miles per hour)
is not effective enough. How could people live in Texas before inventing
the air condition???
After our arriving Dasha had her first driving lesson, while steak was
cooked. First she drove the lawnmower — it is slow but interesting.
Then Don started to teach Dasha basics of car driving in his old Datsun
puck-up. Dasha is a smart pupil and the next day we made short "trip"
by curved road to Don's mailbox and back (about one mile each way).
Most part of the next day at Don's I spent shooting all the weapons that
Don had. It was funny and we had unlimited number of shell (bullets).
Most of all I appreciated big Smith and Wesson.
