Yards of Old Saint Petersburg

I was dreaming of taking pictures of the yards of old central part of our city for a long time. Finally I recently managed to do this. All of the pictures below were taken in very center of Saint Petersburg — there are so many old building and picturesque yards there. Unfortunately, most of them are dirty and look abandoned, but people live there. Still there are a lot of communal flats/apartments there. These yards are completely different from the yards of new buildings. Old yards are often small, square, surrounded by walls. We call them wells, because when you stand there and look at the sky, you feel like standing on the bottom of the well.

I used Fuji PRO 160C color negative film and Fuji Provia 400 color slide film.

All of the pictures were finished using Adobe Photoshop.
